Vision and Patient Care
My practice involves partnering with and empowering my patients to address their specific needs. This means meeting a person where s/he is and using education to help them gain deep understanding of their condition and goals. A typical course of care progresses from skilled manual therapy to address specific pain and/or movement limitations and then moves onto exercise-based activities for full recovery. Shannon sees each patient as a unique whole. This involves using part specific as well as global biomechanical evaluation and treatment skills. Throughout the course of care, a patient will have a home program tailored to that phase of recovery. The long-term goal is to have the skills needed for independent management and for prevention of re-injury or re-occurrence.
Education and Experience
Shannon earned her B.A. in Biology from Dartmouth College in 1991 and her B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Washington in 1995. She is a skilled manual therapist specializing in outpatient orthopedics, treating patients ranging from mountain athletes and dancers to those with persistent autoimmune and neurological conditions. She has lived in Leavenworth for 25 years and has established a thriving referred-to-by-name practice there over the past decades. She is now moving her practice to Mission Peak for their emphasis on specialized and quality care, provided directly by Physical Therapists over longer than average treatment sessions.
Upon joining Mission Peak PT, Shannon will expand her practice to include pelvic health. She is one step away from achieving her American Physical Therapy Association’s CAPP Certification in Pelvic Health. To earn the CAPP, therapists must complete a series of courses, pass written and clinical exams, and submit a written case report. She anticipates completion by the end of January 2025.
Shannon and her husband adored raising their two adult children. She also enjoys hiking and skate skiing, and when time allows, creating wheel thrown pieces for her side pottery business.
